What is “Systems of Care”?
System of care referes to a spectrum of effective, community-based services and supports for children and youth with or at risk for mental health, substance use, child welfare, juvenile justice, medical, developmental, social or other challenges and their families, that is organized into a coordinated network, builds meaningful partnerships with families and youth, and addresses their cultural and linguistic needs, in order to help them to function better at home, in school, in the community, and throughout life.
The NYS Mental Health Advisory Council is pleased to host a webinar for school personnel to explain the Systems of Care framework and how it applies to school districts. Angela Keller, Project Director of NYS Systems of Care Pilot from the NYS Office of Mental Health, will review the Systems of Care framework and what schools need to know about becoming active partners locally. Examples from NY counties will be provided. Ms. Keller will also review the highlights of the Medicaid services transformation for children, youth and young adults and their families.
